  • Vets Golf American Foursomes

    Club Tuross

    With overnight rain clearing a good field of 57 players ventured onto the course for this morning’s American Foursomes event. Winners on the day were the handy pairing of Greg Smith and Neal Watson with an impressive 27.75 strokes on a course rated at 35. Runners up were Rick Brake and Richard Wharton on 29.37, followed home by Peter McRae and Mike Birks on 33.5 and Dorothy Madden and Bruce Martin on 33.75 on count back. Balls or chocolates went to Don Russell and Peter McRae on 33.75, Derek Hoare and Peg Nevett on 34.37, Andrew Gordon and Len Rogers on 35, Leonie Snodgrass and Steve Johnston on 35.25 and finally Ted and Shirley Quinlan on 35.87.

    The unlucky pair winning the Bradman award this week were John Cox and Kevin Dukes. Nearest the pins were won by Richard Kelly on the 4th, David Williams on the 6th, and Kay McLeod and Ted Quinlan on the 7th. Ken Brown took out the Accuracy drive.

  • Vets Golf Stroke & Putts

    With the dust storm and light overnight rain having cleared 57 players registered for the popular Stroke &Putts event. Outright winner on the day was Greg Thornton with an 8 under par score of 27 strokes. Greg was followed home by Vets captain Ian Miller on 29, Chris Wratten on 31 and Denis Benger on 32. Balls or chocolates went to Teri Swanbury, Paul Pereira and Ken Brown on 33 (Ken having parred the course off the stick), Richard Wharton, Peter Macdonald and Des Jackson on 34, followed home by Ross Davidson, Graham Moore, Herb Muriwai, Jeanette Miller, Barry Hoban, John Cox, Les Johanson, Wal Williams and Richard Kelly all with 35. Ken Brown narrowly won the putting competition with 10 putts from the 9 holes played.

    This week’s Bradman award was won by one of newer members Shirley Quinlan, the handicapper needing to lift his game! Nearest the pins were won by Steve Johnston on the 4th, Paul Pereira on the 6th, and Teri Swanbury and Paul Pereira on the 7th. Making it a double, Teri Swanbury also took out the Accuracy award.

  • Vets Golf Stableford 3 Club Event

    A good field of 62 players registered for the Stableford 3 club event, and with a limited range of clubs available the scores overall were exceptional. Winner on the day was Terry Lunn with a great score of 25 points. Terry was followed home by Dorothy Madden on 22, Jennifer Gray on 21, and Denis Benger on 20 on count back. Balls or chocolates went to Wal Williams, David Williams and Graham Moore on 20, Sandra Hanlon, Mike Birks and Tim Skinner on 19, followed by John Cox, Paul Green, Warren Hodder, visitor Henry Bright, Ann Ware, Noel Downie, Len Rogers and Chris Wratten all on 17. Ted Quinlan had a game to forget and was this weeks unfortunate winner of the infamous Bradman award.

    Nearest the pins were won by Leonie Snodgrass on the 4th, Bruce Ware on the 6th, and Leonie Snodgrass and Paul Pereira on the 7th. Jeanette Miller won the Accuracy drive on the 5th.

Vets Golf Program 2018

The Vets Golf Program for 2018 is now available monthly under the Golf Programme Sporting Club Events and Results. A copy is also on display at the Country Club on the Vets Golf notice board on the Ground Floor.

Vets Golf Special Events for 2018:

Elaine Jennings’ Ladies Trophy Rounds 1, 2 and 3 Stableford on 28 March, 11 April and 2 May.

Far South Coast Veteran Golfers Association (FSCVGA) Tuross event on 29 June 2018.

CHAMPIONSHIPS 1 & 2 – Club Championships Rounds
22 August and 12 September – Stroke & Putts.

Other important dates to note:

15 August – Annual General Meeting

12 December – Christmas Party / 4 Person Ambrose

Vets Golf

Vets Golf at Tuross is open to anyone over 50 years young! Our primary objective is to provide a social game of golf for players of all standards in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.

Play every Wednesday morning for 9 holes. Registration times are as follows:
a. Between 1 September and 31 May: 7.45am for an 8.30am shotgun start.
b. Between 1 June and 31 August: 8.15am for a 9.00am shotgun start.

For the 2017 winter period, players voted to remain with the times shown at a. above as a trial subject to review before the winter period 2018.

Vets Golf at Tuross use a unique handicapping system for their own events, so if you do not have an official handicap we will give you one for the day.

During the Christmas/New Year period we welcome Visitors of all ages and all players are eligible to win prizes on the day.

Entry Fee for Vets Golf varies (Members, Visitors, Juniors etc). Please contact the Vets Golf Club Captain (Ian Miller) for details or call in to the Country Club.

Average numbers of players each Wednesday is around 60. If you’re up for it please come along and join us on a Vets morning for some golf, fun & laughs!!
