  • Vets Golf Special Par

    Forty four players braved a damp course after heavy rains and wind to compete in this week’s Special Par event, an event unique to Tuross Vets. Winner on the day was Rick Brake on +5 on count back, followed home by Terry Lunn on +5, Ian Wratten on +3 and John Cox, also on +3. Balls or chocolates went to the following players, all on +1, Ross Davidson, Neil Mather, Robin Green, Sandra Hanlon, Andrew Gordon, Bruce Martin and Greg Thornton.

    The infamous Bradman award was taken out this week by Patrick Sager. Nearest the pins were won by John Cox on the 4th, Greg Smith on the 6th, and Peg Nevett and Neal Watson on the 7th. Jennifer Gray took out the Accuracy drive on the 5th.

  • Vets Golf 2 Person Team Stableford Multiplier

    On what was one of our colder mornings a field of 56 players registered for the 2 Person Team Stableford Multiplier event, a real test of each partners ability to score on every hole. Winners on the day were Terry Lunn and Barry Hoban with a great score of 42 points. They were followed home by Gail and Len Rogers on 40 and then Leonie Snodgrass and Jennifer Gray on 36 on count back. It was impossible to split the next two groups, Tim Starr and Greg Thornton, and Des Jackson and Noel Fletcher both teams also on 36.

    Balls or chocolates went to Robin and Paul Green, together with Gayle and Ross Macalpine on 35, Jeanette and Ian Miller on 33, and to Shirley and Ted Quinlan together with Peter McRae and Andrew Gordon, both on 30. Annette and Ian Manton took out the Bradman award whilst nearest the pins went to Richard Wharton on the 4th, Ian Miller on the 6th, and Gail Rogers and Lance Shadbolt on the 7th. The Accuracy award was won by Jennifer Gray.

Vets Golf Program 2019

The Vets Golf Program for 2019 is now available monthly under the Golf Programme Sporting Club Events and Results. A copy is also on display at the Country Club on the Vets Golf notice board on the Ground Floor.

Vets Golf Special Events for 2019:

Elaine Jennings’ Ladies Trophy Rounds 1, 2 and 3 Stableford on 27 March, 10 April and 1 May.

Far South Coast Veteran Golfers Association (FSCVGA) Tuross event on 28 June 2019.

CHAMPIONSHIPS 1 & 2 – Club Championships Rounds
21 August and 11 September – Stroke & Putts.

Other important dates to note:

14 August – Annual General Meeting

11 December – Christmas Party / 4 Person Ambrose

Vets Golf

Vets Golf at Tuross is open to anyone over 50 years young! Our primary objective is to provide a social game of golf for players of all standards in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.

Play every Wednesday morning for 9 holes. Registration times are as follows:
a. Between 1 September and 31 May: 7.45am for an 8.30am shotgun start.
b. Between 1 June and 31 August: 8.15am for a 9.00am shotgun start.

Vets Golf at Tuross use a unique handicapping system for their own events, so if you do not have an official handicap we will give you one for the day.

During the Christmas/New Year period we welcome Visitors of all ages and all players are eligible to win prizes on the day.

Entry Fee for Vets Golf varies (Members, Visitors, Juniors etc). Please contact the Vets Golf Club Captain (Ian Miller) for details or call in to the Country Club.

Average numbers of players each Wednesday is around 60. If you’re up for it please come along and join us on a Vets morning for some golf, fun & laughs!!
