Tuross Head Ladies Golf – Tuesday 27 July

On a balmy Spring-like sunny day, 22 ladies played in a Stableford competition, sponsored by the Tuross Service Station. 

Results were:

A Grade: Leonie Snodgrass (16) was the winner with a net score of 34 points. Second place went to Dorothy Madden (26) on 29 points.

B Grade:  The winner was Gail Rogers (32) with a score of 35 points, on a countback from Jeanette Miller (39) with 35 points.

C Grade: Kerrie Sands (45) was the winner with 31 points.  Second place was Julie Barningham (45) with 28 points.

Nearest the pin on the 6th went to Jennifer Gray, and on the 15th to Chris Birks. The Golden Hole winners were Dorothy Madden and Jeanette Miller.

Ball winners were: Chris Wratten, Gail Page, Annette Manton, Shirley Quinlan, Teri Swanbury, Elsa Shearer and Jennifer Gray.

Tuross Head Ladies Golf – Tuesday 20 July

In freezing Antarctic conditions, 20 ladies bravely fronted up to play in a Stableford competition, sponsored by Marie Mapleson.

Results were:

A Grade: Dorothy Madden (26) was the winner with a fabulous net score of 41 points. Second place went to Leonie Snodgrass (16) on 36 points.
B Grade: The winner was Shirley Quinlan (38) with a score of 36 points, followed closely by Di O’Shea (40) with 35 points.
C Grade: Wendy Schmid (45) was the winner with 26 points. Second place was Kerrie Sands (45) with 25 points.
Nearest the pin on the 6th and the 15th went to Jeanette Miller. The Golden Hole winners were Pauline Nash and Jeanette Miller.
Ball winners were: Jeanette Miller, Chris Wratten, Annette Manton, Pauline Nash and Gail Rogers.
Next week will be a Stableford competition sponsored the Tuross Service Station.

Tuross Head Ladies Golf – 6th July

On Tuesday 6 July 19 ladies played in a Stableford competition kindly sponsored by Tuross

Hair and Beauty.

Results were:

Division 1 – Leonie Snodgrass (16) with 30 points. The Runner up was Dorothy Madden (26)

with 27 points.

Division 2 winner was Annette Manton (33) with 33 points followed closely by Shirley

Quinlan (38) on 32 points.

Division 3 winner was Jennifer Gray (41) with 25 points on a countback from Elsa Shearer

(41) also on 25 points.

Nearest the pin on the 6th went to Dorothy Madden and on the 15 th to Leonie Doolan.

The Golden Hole winners were Leonie Doolan and Marilyn Bingham.

Ball winners were: Chris Wratten, Jeanette Miller, Gail Page, Leonie Doolan, Gail Rogers and

Kerrie Sands.

Next week will be an interesting Split Stableford competition.

Tuross Head Ladies Golf

After a week’s break due to bad weather and a very wet course, 18 ladies returned to the field to partake in the 5th Medal round sponsored by Gail and Len Rogers.

Once again Dorothy Madden took out the honours to win the Medal with a net score of 74 points.

Runner up in Division 1 was Gail Rogers with a net score of 81 points.

Division 2 winner was Gail Page with a net 78, followed closely by Shirley Quinlan on 79 points.

Division 3 winner was Jennifer Gray with 76 points. The Runner-Up was Club President, Wendy Schmid with a net score of 87 points.

Nearest the pin on the 6th went to Samantha Dryden and on the 15th to Shirley Quinlan. The Golden Hole winners were Dorothy Madden and Julie Barningham.

17 Tuross ladies played in a 3 Person Stableford Aggregate competition.

The winning group with a total score of 92 points were, Marie Murawai, Pauline Nash and Elsa Shearer.

Second place on a three-way countback were Teri Swanbury, Dorothy Madden and Jennifer Gray with a score of 84 points.

Third place went to Shirley Quinlan, Jeanette Miller and Margaret Downey.

Nearest the pin winners were Dorothy Madden and Gail Page and the Golden Hole winners were Shirley Quinlan and Marie Murawai.

Vets Golf 2 Person Irish Team Stableford Event

Fifty two players registered for the Tuross Head Veteran Golfers 2 Person Irish Team Stableford event on Wednesday 26 May 2021. Winners on the day were the team of David Williams and Des Jackson with a great team score of 32 points. Runners up were Solveig Olsson combining with Tony Crook on 30. They were followed home by Teri and Steve Swanbury and Ann and Bruce Ware, both teams scoring 28 points.

Minor prizes went to the teams of Ken Brown and Lance Shadbolt on 28, Jeanette and Ian Miller, 27, Dorothy and Blaise Madden, 27, and finally Greg Smith combining with Neal Watson on 25.

The Bradman award went to Frank Pomfret teamed with Steve Collins, whilst nearest the pins were won by Ross Davidson on both the 4th and 6th holes, and Teri Swanbury and David Williams on the 7th. Barry Hoban took out the Accuracy award.

Vets Golf Par Event

On what was undoubtedly the coolest Wednesday morning this year, a field of 49 Vets golfers registered for the Tuross Head Veterans Golf Par event on 19 May. Winner on the day with a score of +2 for the nine holes played was Jennifer Gray. Runner up was relative newcomer Jane Eglitis on +1, from Ron Hanlon on the same score and Frank Pomfret on square.

Minor prizes went to Les Thompson, Sandra Hanlon, Ian Miller, Neal Watson and Stephen Swanbury on square, and then Annette Manton, Graham Moore, Peter McRae, Herb Muriwai and Chris Wratten all on -1.

The Bradman award was shared this week by Ken Hush and Rick Brake, whilst nearest the pins went to Ian Miller on the 4th, Les Thompson on the 6th, and to Leonie Snodgrass and Des Jackson on the 7th. Paul Coffey won the Accuracy competition.

Vets Golf Stroke and Putts Event

Despite the course suffering from recent rains, 49 players registered for the Tuross Head Veteran Golfers Single Stableford event on Wednesday 12 May. Winner on the day with a fine score of 23 points for the 9 holes played was Ross Davidson. Ross beat home Warren Hodder and Les Thompson on 19, and then Gail Rogers on 18. Minor prizes went to Peter Coffey on 18, Ray Downey, Ted Quinlan and Peter Frost on 17, Neil Mather, Paul Coffey and David Williams on 16, and finally Ann Ware and Margaret Downey on 15.

The Bradman award was a closely fought out affair with Julie Barningham taking out the infamous award on count back.

Nearest the pins went to Ken Brown on the 4th, Greg Smith on the 6th, and to Leonie Snodgrass and Frank Pomfret on the 7th. Ian Miller won the Accuracy award.

Tuross Head Ladies Golf

On Tuesday 11 May, 15 ladies played in a Stableford competition. Apart from a couple of champions, scores were very low as the course was not in good shape because of recent rains.

Results were:

A Grade: 1st Leonie Snodgrass (15) with 34 points

2nd Annette Manton (31) with 34 points on a countback

B Grade: 1st Jeanette Miller (39) with 22 points

2nd Beverley Theobald (38) with 20 points

C Grade: 1st Julie Barningham (45) with 28 points

2nd Marie Mapleson (45) with 14 points

Nearest the pin winners were Marie Mapleson, Leonie Snodgrass, Chris Wratten and Jeanette Miller

Stephen Swanbury wins stableford competition

Tuross Head Country Club men golfers Saturday stableford competition was won by Stephen Swanbury with a score of 40 points. Michael Allen was a close second with 39 stableford points followed by Mark Haberkorn with 38 points. Steve Johnston with 37 points and Peter Garn who finished on 36 points were the remaining awardwinners.

Nearest the pins were won by A grade players Steve Collins, Ian McManus and Ian Lawson. Stephen Swanbury was closest on both the 4th and 6th hole and Peter Garn won the 7th in B division. Bruce Brawn, Mike Allen and Paul Coffey were the winners in C grade. Daryl Smith who was the best on the 7th.

Tuross golfers are preparing for the club championships which will be played over 54 holes commencing on Saturday May 8th and will be completed on the weekend of Saturday May 15th and Sunday May 16th.

Vets Golf Stroke and Putts Event

An unusually small field of only 49 players registered for the Tuross Head Veterans Golf Stroke and Putt event on Wednesday 28 April 2021. Winner on the day was Paul Pereira with a nett score of 29, representing a score of 6 below handicap for the nine holes played. Runner up was Shirley Quinlan with 30, beating home Ann Ware and Kevin Reilly with 32 on count back.

Minor prizes went to Greg Bush, Dave Munro and Margaret Downey with 34, Des Jackson, Barry Hoban and Graham Moore with 36, and finally Peter Coffey, Terry Lunn and Rob Nash all on 36.

Graham Moore took out the putting contest with only 12 putts for the nine holes, whilst nearest the pins went to Des Jackson on the 4th, Frank Pomfret on the 6th, and to Shirley Quinlan and Ken Brown on the 7th. Greg Bush took out the Accuracy award.
