With a number of regular players away for the week a smaller than usual field of 49 players registered for the Special Par event. This game is a variation on a standard Par game but carries bonuses for scores under handicap. It is unique to Tuross Vets and generally favours the higher handicapper playing well on the day. Results for the event were as follows:
1st: Ian Wratten emerged as an easy winner with an excellent score of plus 10.
2nd: Neil Watson returned a handy score of plus 7 for second placing edging out Ian’s wife Chris Wratten on a count back.
3rd: Chris Wratten also on +7.
4th: The final rostrum position was awarded to John Cox with plus 6.
Terry Lunn put his hand up to receive the Bradman’s award.
Ball or Chocolate:
Don Russell on +6, Herb Muriwai on +5, Warren Hodder, Margaret Downey and Michael Godford on +4, Kay Lunt and Denis Benger on +3, and finally Lyn Benger and Gail Rogers on +2 and on count back.
Nearest the Pins:
4th: Greg Ware.
6th: Ken Brown.
Ladies 7th: Kay McLeod.
Men’s 7th: Rob Nash with a golfer’s dream of a hole in one.
Jennifer Gray returning from an extended touring holiday took out the Accuracy award for this week.
Next weeks competition is a two person Ambrose event where players will also vie for the Phyllis Starr tin cup, the game being followed by a gala day lunch. Registration is in the downstairs sports bar area from 7.45am and a shotgun start at 8.30am.
