Ladies’ Golf 18 Hole Gold Medal Play Off

Congratulations to Lyn Benger who won the Gold Medal with a nett 75. Well done Lyn.

Results for the Event Of The Day were:
Division 1 Winner was Kaye McLeod with a nett 78 and Runner Up
was Leonie Doolan with 79 nett.
Division 2 Winner was Judy Apps with a 77 nett and R/U was Annette Manton with 80 nett.
Division 3 Winner was Elsa Shearer with a 72 nett and R/U was
Ann Ware with 73 nett.

There will be no golf next week as the greens will be cored.

Vets Golf 2 Person Stableford Multiplier

On yet another beautiful Tuross morning a good field of 55 players registered for the programmed 2 person Stableford Multiplier event. Winning team on the day with a score of 42 points was the combination of Tim Starr and Les Johanson, seeing off a field many years their junior. Runners up were Teri and Steve Swanbury on 41, followed home by Anne and Bruce Ware on 36 beating home Annette and Ian Manton on the same score on count back.

Balls or chocolates were won by Frank Pomfret and Steve Collins on 36, Tony Crook and Ken Brown on 36, Peg Nevett and Len Rogers on 35, Robin and Paul Green on 35, and finally Kevin Dukes and Graham Moore also on 35.

The infamous Bradman award went to the team of Solveig Olsson and Ross Hendy, whilst nearest the pins went to Kevin Dukes on the 4th, Les Thompson on the 6th, and to Leonie Snodgrass and Ian Manton on the 7th. Leonie Snodgrass capped off a winning morning by also taking out the Accuracy award on the 5th.

Captain beats President in 2BBB team challenge

Tuross Head Country Club men’s golf Saturday August 31 2019

A highlight of golf at Tuross Head on the weekend was the annual President versus Captain Shield.
In this competition the field is divided into two support groups playing for their selected team leader. This always results in a keen contest and this time captain Allen Lee’s team defeated president Andrew Gordon’s team.

Tuross Head men’s stableford competition was won by David Dow with a score of 40 points.
Davide was followed by Allen Gannon with 39 points, Greg Booth 38, Herb Muriwai 37 and Bruce Lidbury 35 points.

Nearest the pins were won by A grade players:
Brad Doolan on the 4th hole with 3.55m.
Shaun Hogan won the 6th with 4.80 m and Shaun was also closest on the 7th with 4.35 m.
Best in B grade was Ron Rogers on the 4th with 2.60 m.
Peter Garn on the 6th with 6.75 m and
Kevin Dukes on the 7th with 4.83 m.
Graeme Bell was closest on the 4th hole with 2.41 m.
Bruce Brawn was best on the 6th with 2.10 m and Bruce was also the winner on the 7th hole with 2.85m.

Balls to 30 points.

The coming Saturday competition is the monthly medal stroke and putt round.

Vets Golf Stableford

Fifty one players took to the course for the Single Stableford event. Winner on the day was Jeanette Miller with a fine score of 25 points, also equalling her best stroke score on the course. Jeanette was followed home by Denis Benger on 23, from Julie Barningham and Sandra Hanlon on 22 on count backs.

Balls or chocolates went to Stephen Crossling and Frank Pomfret on 22, Solveig Olsson on 21, Allen Lee, Margaret Downey and Noel Downie on 20, David Williams, Shirley Quinlan and Jennifer Gray on 19, and finally Lyn Benger and Marcel Kors on 18. Patrick McNeile took out the Bradman award, whilst nearest the pins went to Steve Swanbury on the 4th, Patrick McNeile on the 6th, and to Shirley Quinlan and Terry Challender on the 7th. Chris Wratten hit the straightest drive on the 5th to win the Accuracy award.

Vets Golf Stroke & Putts

On what was a beautiful sunny morning (perhaps the first signs of Spring) a good field of 58 players registered for the day’s Stroke and Putts event, this also being the first of two rounds of the 2019 Vets Championships. Winner on the day was Chris Wratten with a six under handicap score of 29 strokes nett. Chris was closely followed by Ray Downey on 30 and then Les Thompson and Ross Davidson both on 31. Balls or chocolates were won by John Cox on 33, Lyn Benger, Greg Thornton, Brian Smith (a new member), Ian Miller and Ian Wratten on 34, followed by Herb Muriwai, Ron Lunt, Steve Collins, Rick Brake and Ken Brown on 35.

There were a number of players vying for the infamous Bradman award this week but Don Russell won out in the end. Nearest the pins were taken out by Ken Brown on the 4th, Ray Downey on the 6th, and by Ann Ware and Kevin Dukes on the 7th. Steve Collins won the Accuracy award.

Vets Golf Stableford

A good field of 57 players registered for the Single Stableford event. Winner on the day was Rob McKirdy with a great score of 23 points ( a fact noted by the Vets handicapper!). Rob beat home Les Thompson on 21, and Herb Muriwai from Terry Lunn on 21 points on count back. Balls or chocolates went to Kathy Crossling on 19, Lyn Benger, Derek Hoare and Tim Starr on 18, Greg Smith, Ray Downey and Annette Manton on 17, and the final grouping of Steve Swanbury, Neal Watson, Shirley and Ted Quinlan, Bruce Ware, Jennifer Gray and Patrick McNeile all on 16.

Barry Hoban was this week’s unfortunate winner of the Bradman award on count back. Nearest the pins were won by Herb Muriwai on the 4th, Jennifer Gray on the 6th, and Teri Swanbury and Bruce Ware on the 7th. Kathy Crossling capped off a good day by also taking out the Accuracy drive award.

THCC Ladies’ Golf Championship

The THCC Ladies’ Golf Championship was played over 54 holes. There were 18 players with 8 in Division 1 and 10 in Division 2. Many thanks to our Sponsors, Kaye Lunt and the TUROSS Service Station. Your support for ladies’ golf is very much appreciated. Results are as follows.

Pauline Nash with 289 off the stick.
Division 1 Gross Runner Up was Leonie Snodgrass with 291.
Division 1 Handicap Winner was Chris Wratten with nett 226.

Division 2 Gross Winner was Kaye Lunt with 218 off the stick.
Division 2 Gross Runner Up was Judy Apps with 219.
Division 2 Handicap Winner was Lyn Benger with nett 228.
Division 2 Handicap Runner Up was Jenny Gray with nett 230.
