Successful Mixed Bowls Carnival at Tuross Head

By |2019-07-23T13:52:14+10:00July 23rd, 2019|Categories: Women's Bowls|

Last Monday, two full rinks of  bowlers enjoyed a beautiful  day on the greens at Tuross Head playing in the club’s annual  Women’s Mixed Pairs Carnival. Competition was strong, but the bowlers who coped with the very slick  top green were the victors on the day.

We were very grateful to  Bronwyn Moore  of Travel Team Batemans Bay  who was the major sponsor and was there  at the end of the day to present the winners with their prize money.

The prize winners were spread  around the District  bowling clubs: 1st was Keith Pickett and Vicki Herman of Narooma, 2nd was Viv Patrikka and Gail Vigden  of Malua Bay  and 3rd was Paul Vanda and  Rachel Kincaid of Bodalla.

Denise Lidbury Selected for NSW Country

By |2018-10-30T08:39:14+10:00October 30th, 2018|Categories: Women's Bowls|

Denise Lidbury is off to Soldiers Point this weekend, 3rd and 4th November to play in the NSW State Annual Bowls fixture of Country versus City. There are twenty bowlers chosen for each side. Four members play in the under 25’s and eight in both the Open and Seniors.
Denise has been a member of Tuross Head Country Club Women’s Bowling Club since 1990. In that time she has won many club titles as well as District. She has participated regularly in Regional and State events.

In 2018 she was a member of the Tuross Head Pennant 1 side who played at the Entrance in August in the State playoffs.

She also played in the pairs, triples and fours competitions at the State level at Taren Point in September. The selectors certainly had an eye for excellence in choosing Denise to be part of the Country Seniors side. She, along with Emma Petit from Merimbula are the only two representatives from the south of New South Wales.

Tuross Head Country Club is extremely proud of Denise’s efforts and wish her well in this highly contested event.

We hope Country will be able to defend the title they won in 2017.

26 teams braved very cold conditions to play in the Mixed Pairs Carnival at Tuross Head on the 19th of July.

There were three games of twelve ends played over the day and while the conditions were difficult, the greens were a credit to the green keepers – they ran beautifully.

Far South Coast District Championships

By |2018-05-04T16:01:35+10:00May 4th, 2018|Categories: Women's Bowls|

The last of the Far South Coast District Championships has been played. The District Singles has been decided in difficult conditions at Bodalla. Sue Fahey (Tuross Head) won against the very strong competitor Denise Lidbury (Tuross Head). We look forward to the teams that will be representing the FSCD in both Regional and State Playoffs in the coming months.

This year 2018 has been a very exciting one for Tuross Head Women’s Bowling Club. Tuross Head is one of the smaller clubs in the Far South Coast District (FSCD), but they have had an exceptional year winning all the categories they entered of the District Championships.

1. Mixed Pairs
This event was won by Sue and John Fahey. They are now off to the regional playoffs at Bega on 2nd June.

2. Singles
This event was played between Sue Fahey and Denise Lidbury (both Tuross Head), with Sue Fahey winning. Well done Tuross to have both a District Singles Champion and Runner up. They are now off to the regional playoffs at Bega in June.

3. Open Pairs
The team of Sue Fahey and Doreen Monks won the District Pairs, they then went on to win the Regional playoff and become the FSCD Open Pairs Champions. The next game is to contest the State Championship in September.

4. Triples
Once again a Tuross team consisting of Averial Cox, Rose Farrington, and Denise Lidbury were successful and won the District Triples Championship.
After this they progressed to the Regional Playoffs, and again won this event. This very successful team is now off to the State Championships in September.

5. Open Fours
The team of Rose Farrington, Averial Cox, Sue Fahey and Denise Lidbury were successful in the Open Fours of FSCD. The next event is the Regional playoffs at Bega in early June.

Tuross can be very proud of the accomplishments of the Women’s Bowling Club Members, they represent their District, home club and the community with good humour, integrity and skill.

The Tuross Community is very proud of these achievements.

CONGRATULATIONS TUROSS WOMEN’S BOWLING CLUB!
