PENNANT RESULTS
Round 9 of the 2017 Pennant season was played on the weekend with both Tuross sides going down in matches played away from home.

The Grade 5 side played in Dalmeny with the home side taking the spoils and in what is effectively the last game of the season for both clubs. John Fahey’s team continued their good form with a come from behind 21 – 16 win. Things did not look good when they were behind 14 – 4 after 11 ends but they won 8 of the last 10 ends to claim victory.

Peter Macdonald’s team had the opposite experience. They looked good for most of the match and led for all but 2 ends. After 18 ends they were in front 22 – 19 only to drop 9 shots on the next two ends. They restored some pride by winning the last end but it was not enough to avoid the 28 – 24 loss.

Peter Davies team had a tough day and were outplayed to the tune of 30 – 15. This rounded out a 9 – 1 win to Dalmeny.

The Grade 7 side travelled to Bodalla and were comprehensively thumped by the locals who handled the fast green much better than their visitors. Bodalla won all three rinks in a convincing manner racking up 83 shots to Tuross’ 31.

The loss topped off a bad three matches from Tuross and they now have dropped out of contention in the race for the flag. To their credit Bodalla have overcome a slow start to storm to the top of the table with very big wins over the previous two front runners, Tomakin and Tuross.

There is one more scheduled round of the Grade 7 competition with one washed out round also to be played. However, the competition is on hold for the next two weeks with Easter and Anzac Day.

UPCOMING EVENTS

With the Pennant season drawing to a close our attention now turns to club based events including the continuation of the Championship Program. Nominations are currently being called for the Major Singles Championship.

On Sunday April 23 we will be hosting a visit from the Canberra Labor Club. This is a mixed event with two games of bowls and a lunch included in the $22 fee. It will be a 9.30 start, dress is mufti and single entries can be placed on the Board.

The May Carnival is also fast approaching with plenty of places still available in all events except the Medley. A form for single entries is also on the board.
